A quick and easy way to calculate the cost of Stamp Duty when purchasing shares using a stock transfer form. If you buy shares electronically, you’ll pay Stamp Duty Reserve Tax (SDRT) instead. Currently (25th May 2020) the amount of duty is the same.
The figures provided by this calculator are for illustrative purposes only. If you buy stocks and shares for £1,000 or less you don’t normally have to pay any Stamp Duty. You also don’t have to tell HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) about the transaction.
